SYDNEY MCIVOR
Sydney maintains a broad litigation practice with a focus on sexual misconduct, administrative law, and sports disputes. She is committed to building strong relationships with her clients, believing that a deep understanding of their needs is essential to crafting creative and effective solutions to complex legal challenges.

Sydney has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and has represented clients in sports arbitrations and before various administrative tribunals, with a particular emphasis on proceedings before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
​
In addition to her advocacy work, Sydney is an experienced investigator. She takes a trauma-informed approach to investigations and has conducted inquiries into both workplace and sports-related complaints.

Sydney joined Gillian Hnatiw & Co. in 2025 after practicing at leading litigation boutiques in Toronto and Ottawa. She began her legal career as a Judicial Law Clerk with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, where she supported judges on civil, criminal, family, and administrative law matters before the Superior and Divisional Courts, gaining valuable insight into the judicial decision-making process.

Sydney earned her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, where she was highly engaged in the student community. She was awarded the Dean’s Gold Key for her leadership and contributions to student life. Before law school, Sydney completed her Honours B.A. in Economics at the University of Victoria.

Sydney has published work in Appeal: Review of Current Law and Law Reform and the Canadian Class Actions Review.
