ARTICLING POSITION (2027–28 TERM)
Gillian Hnatiw & Co. is a feminist litigation boutique focused on advancing justice through trauma-informed, client-centred advocacy. Our practice includes civil litigation with particular expertise in cases involving sexual, physical, and psychological abuse, harassment, and assault, as well as professional negligence, health, defamation, employment, and human rights law. We advocate for plaintiffs and defendants, individuals, and corporations - always starting with a focus on our clients and what they are trying to achieve.
We are hiring an articling student for the 2027–2028 term. Students work closely with our lawyers and are actively involved in all stages of litigation, including:
-
legal research and drafting;
-
preparing clients for various steps in the litigation process;
-
attending discoveries, mediations, and other court proceedings; and
-
supporting file strategy and case development.
The ideal candidate:
-
brings an intersectional feminist lens;
-
is detail-oriented, collaborative, and thoughtful;
-
has strong research, writing, and analytical skills;
-
demonstrates a clear interest in litigation and advocacy; and
-
communicates in plain, accessible language.
We practice in a trauma-informed way that prioritizes client dignity, clarity, and agency. Students are expected to engage with clients and legal work in a way that reflects these values. We encourage applications from candidates who identify as part of equity-seeking groups.
To apply, please submit a statement of interest, CV and transcripts to Molly Warwick at molly@gillianandco.ca.
