Sexual Abuse by David Latimer at Kilcoo Camp

On behalf of two clients, Gillian Hnatiw & Co. has commenced two civil claims in the Superior Court of Justice against David “Lub” Latimer and Kilcoo Camp.

Our client in the first action, J. Doe #1, alleges Latimer sexually assaulted them at or near Kilcoo Camp when they were approximately 7 years old during a school outdoor education program in the 1990s. They also allege Latimer subjected them to an ongoing pattern of inappropriate behaviour for several years thereafter.

Our client in the second action, J. Doe #2, is also a former school group camper at Kilcoo Camp. She alleges Latimer sexually assaulted and harassed her over many years, beginning when she was a teenager volunteering at the camp in the 2010s. Latimer’s varied sexual misconduct continued throughout her employment at Kilcoo Camp as a teenager and a young adult.

Sexual Assault & Harassment by Colin E. MacDonald

Our client, Elizabeth (Liz) LeClair, worked as a fundraiser for several prominent institutions in Halifax. In the course of multiple jobs, she was required to interact with Colin E. MacDonald, the co-founder of Clearwater Seafood. Liz alleges that MacDonald subjected her to a pattern of unwelcome sexualized comments and questions over several years, which escalated to a blatant sexual proposition during a car trip to Antigonish. After rejecting his advances, Liz alleges she spent the duration of the car ride afraid that MacDonald would force himself on her.
